After 20-year imprisonment to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for raping two sadhvis, now focus is on September 16 when hearing in two murder cases against the dera chief will take place at the CBI court in Panchkula.Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is the main accused in the murder case of dera member Ranjit Singh. He is also charged by the CBI for the murder of Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.CBI counsel HPS Verma said both cases were at the stage of final arguments.Ranjit, an affluent farmer, was a former manager of the Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda.
Ranjit was shot dead allegedly at the behest of Ram Rahim here in 2002. Ranjit was allegedly killed for his suspected role in the circulation of the anonymous letter, which made the sexual exploitation allegations, on the basis of which the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the CBI investigation.Another case is the murder of Ram Chander Chhatrapati, a Sirsa-based journalist, who had launched his own evening newspaper “Pura Sach” in 2000. When the issue of sexual exploitation and other suspicious activities in the dera came into picture, Chhatrapati started reporting the matter prominently in his newspaper.Chhatrapati’s son Anshul said his father was murdered on October 24, 2002, five months after the newspaper he owned, “Pura Sach”, published an anonymous letter alleging rape charges against Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
